Chagrin Falls Schools is investing in its athletics program with the construction of a new softball field. This will provide a dedicated practice and competition space for student-athletes, starting in the coming weeks.

Located on the south side of the Chagrin Falls Schools' 7-12 Campus, behind Chagrin Falls High School, the new softball field will provide a dedicated, top-notch facility for the talented players to hone their skills and showcase their talents.

The new softball field is being funded through the district's Permanent Improvement (PI) fund with a construction budget of $285,000. This PI budget focuses on ongoing capital improvement projects at each of the District’s three school campuses. The Facilities Committee identifies potential projects, which are then reviewed and approved by the Board of Education. The District used a request for quotation process and selected the lowest qualified bidder, resulting in a construction cost that came in under budget. Locally-based Bob Cultrona Landscaping received the contract ensuring the best value for the community.

The field will have an array of modern features, including batting cages with a turf surface, a pitching bullpen, backstop and fencing, foul ball poles, a removable home run fence, concrete block-enclosed dugouts, a scoreboard, spectator seating, and an outdoor audio sound system.

The existing varsity High School softball field located at Gurney Elementary will be maintained, for the future.  However, this new field is conveniently located adjacent to the high school and will provide a connected and positive environment for the players, aligning perfectly with the district's mission of "Inspiring All to Grow and Thrive."

"This new softball field is a testament to our commitment to providing exceptional facilities for our student-athletes," said Director of Operations Christopher Woofter, Chagrin Falls Schools. "We are excited to offer our softball players a dedicated space to showcase their talents and continue our tradition of excellence."

In keeping with the District's commitment to community engagement, the new softball field will also be available for use by local leagues and organizations, subject to the District's facility usage policies and scheduling process.
