Rachel Schaffer’s Poem Published in Ranger Rick's Zoobooks
Rachel Schaffer, age 10, and a fifth-grade student in Alexandra Klusmann’s English language arts class at Chagrin Falls Intermediate School, had her poem about whales published in the January 2024 issue of Ranger Rick's Zoobooks.
Teachers at Chagrin Falls Intermediate School provide students with a list of writing contests, competitions, and publication opportunities each year. These opportunities are designed to encourage students to explore their creative talents and challenge themselves in the world of writing. Schaffer, with a passion for caring for animals, decided to take on the challenge, she says she must have checked the website 100 times to see if she won the contest and her poem would be published. “I felt awesome when I found out and I’m still shocked,” said Schaffer.
Chagrin Falls Intermediate School has a tradition of having its students published, especially in Ranger Rick's Zoobooks.
