Welcome to Chagrin Falls Intermediate School

Chagrin Falls Intermediate School (CFIS) is located in the heart of the Village of Chagrin Falls and completed an addition and renovation in August 2019. Approximately 375 fourth through sixth graders attend the school, which is an Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators “Hall of Fame School” as well as a U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School.

Academic classes at each grade level are departmentalized and range from 40 to 120 minutes long.  Our teachers provide students with deep and meaningful educational experiences and are skilled at differentiating instruction in order to meet the individual needs of every learner. Opportunities for academic growth are developed through tiered instruction, including advanced courses in math and gifted clusters in language arts.

Every student is provided with a District-owned Chromebook to use both at home and school. Students also participate in a robust Encore program with classes in art, gym, Spanish, music (choir, orchestra and band), guidance, library and STEM. The school is home to a science suite that includes a lab, outdoor classroom terrace and Makerspace. Programming provides hands-on ways for students to collaborate, experiment, build and invent as they engage in science, engineering and design - both during and after school.

Intervention and enrichment are provided daily through Personalized Learning Time. This includes targeted intervention, leveled classes, gifted programming, interest-based extracurriculars and student choice. Students explore new ideas by participating in unique classes such as Mathletics and Invention Convention. Extracurriculars include Select Choir, Student Council, P.A.W.S. (student service organization), Rocket Club, Art Club, Ski Club, Lego FIRST Robotics Team and Destination Imagination.

Parent and PTO volunteers assist with daily routines and special events such as COSI, sixth grade retreat, and the semi-annual Student Art Show.

Everything we do at CFIS is built upon the pillars of Protect, Connect and Expect. Protect symbolizes our top priority of always keeping everyone in our building safe. We accomplish this by being safe, responsible and respectful at all times. Connecting deeply with one another is something we will strive to do each day. Whether it's with our students, you as families or with colleagues, our goal is always to truly know each other as individuals. Finally, we will have elite expectations. Everyone who is a part of our education family will know and understand the high expectations we will uphold. It is our belief that when the words Protect, Connect and Expect are put into action, true growth happens.

At Chagrin Falls Intermediate School we will work collaboratively to create the best possible learning environment where children can grow socially, emotionally, and academically. We are committed to the success of every child that's a part of our CFIS family.

We are Chagrin!
